Pisa Galileo Galilei International Airport (PSA)
Airport Information

(Pisa, Italy)

One of the main airports within Italy's famous Tuscany region, the Pisa Galileo Galilei Airport (PSA) lies directly east of the historic Marine di Pisa village. The airport is also close to the Litorale Pisano forest and the frazione of Tirrenia, where many tourists head during the summer months for sand, sea and nightlife.

Galileo Galilei Airport (PSA) in Italy is roughly 2 km / 1 mile to the south of Pisa city centre and lies within the San Giusto district. Currently 20 regular airlines service this facility, with the most important including the budget carriers of Jet2.com, easyJet, Ryanair and Delta, which offers seasonal flights to New York.

The transport options at Galileo Galilei Airport provide a number of different ways to reach central Pisa and its many historic sights based around the 'Field of Miracles' (Campo dei Miracoli). Trains are available onsite at the adjacent railway terminal and a direct service links the Santa Maria Novella Station in the nearby city of Florence.

Also to hand are buses operated by the CPT (Compagnia Pisana Trasporti), 'CO.TA.PI' taxis and a good choice of rental vehicles, linking Pisa with Tuscan destinations such as Livorno, Lucca and also Viareggio. Both the Firenze-Pisa-Livorno and the Genova-Rosignano are conveniently close by.

About Pisa Tourism

Located in the very heart of Italy and within the famed Tuscany region, Pisa is sited next to the River Arno and next to the Ligurian Sea. Steeped in history, Pisa is full of interest, with sights such as the Piazza dei Cavalieri, the Duomo di Pisa (Cathedral) and the nearby Piazza dei Miracoli, which is without doubt one of Europe's most appealing public squares.

However, most people fly into Galileo Galilei Airport (PIS) to see one thing alone, the world-famous Leaning Tower of Pisa (Torre Pendente). Dating back some 800 years, the Leaning Tower is now quite stable and is actually the bell tower to the adjacent cathedral. Nearby, the circular Battistero (Baptistery) is equally impressive and a pleasant surprise to visitors. Galileo Galilei Airport is well placed to explore this part of Italy and many Tuscan treasures are nearby, such as Calci, Lucca and even Florence.
